The British Empire and Commonwealth fielded almost 15 million serving men and women during WW2. This contribution was critical to the allied war effort. In the dark years from 1939 through to 1942 these troops fought the axis forces across Europe, Asia, Africa, the Mediterranean and Atlantic as well as in India, the Pacific and Arctic Oceans.
